My husband and I create music. This is part of who we are. It is an audible expression of our worship to God, an expression of where we have come from and who we are becoming. It is an expression of how Jesus, the master Artisan, is recreating us daily into His image.
A few years ago, I recorded an album of songs I had written over the span of several years. The collection is called “Wait For You”. Each song is a step in a journey of waiting on God and the beautiful things I learned along the way. More specifically, I’ve struggled a lot in my life with OCD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. God worked in many beautiful ways to bring endurance, character and hope.
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Romans 5:1-5 ESV
God didn’t just have the destination in mind during this journey, it was what I learned along the way that mattered the most. It was the constant turning to Jesus for strength, hope, joy, and perseverance to battle whatever trial and challenge God chose to bless me with and use it for His glory! The incredible friendship of God and the depth of intimacy in my relationship with Christ was the most precious outcome of this journey.
When I recorded the cd, I asked God to use it in whatever way He chose and to minister to whomever He wanted. Many of the cd’s have been given to Mercy Ministries (an organization that ministers to young at-risk girls battling all sorts of challenges), also to a couple of Teen Girls Camps. Several others have been purchased by family, friends, and others I don’t even know.
When I hear how God has used these songs in people’s lives to bring worship of Him, hope, comfort, and truth, it humbles and amazes me that God would be so faithful in using this offering for His purposes. These stories I hold close to my heart of how God has ministered through the songs to others.
My OCD has been a very real challenge in my life and God’s hope and healing have been a very real experience in my life! Together, I hope and pray that God will continue to use these songs to bring encouragement to those who listen. The following is a press release of my album:
• Jennifer Loewen: Wait for You
Warning: Completely concerned with Christ. These are mainly songs of praise, very well sung. Highlights include ‘King of Glory,’ with its Bo Diddley beat; and ‘The Secret Place,’ which has an effective piano intro. My favourite cut is ‘Breaking Down,’ which is a beautifully executed piece consisting of several layers of sound; it includes a recital of text, and features a soaring vocal with gorgeous harmony.
I will soon be uploading my album to itunes. For now, you can purchase the album here. If you would like a hardcopy cd with case and artwork, I have several of those left as well and can be purchased for $10 plus shipping. You can contact me in my comments section.
